Too tired to play

Jackson was laying in the living room playing with his toys, and I guess that lion just wore him out....

Sweet Potatos

About a week ago, Adam and I decided that Jackson was probably ready for his first veggie. So as I mentioned before, we are following the book, Super Baby Food (it's a book by Ruth Yaron that lays out step-by-step how to prepare your own baby food and what are the best "super" foods for your baby). I ordered the Food Cube Trays from One Step Ahead ( I love that website!) Preparing a months worth of sweet potatos was so easy--microwaved em for 8 minutes, scooped out of the skins and into my CuisineArt, added LOTS of water (amazing how much water really is in baby food--makes you wonder what you actually pay for with the jarred stuff) and then scooped it all in my cubes and into the freezer. Total time: 20 minutes. Total cost: $.79 for 20 servings. Total savings: (Organic Jar: $.35ea x 20= $7.00) $6.21!! (Did I mention it was easy!)

So then came the big part: Jackson actually eating the food I prepared. We put on a bib, got out the spoon, and he was ready to go! Jackson watched me the whole time I was getting everything out, as if he knew something was up!


Adam did the honors, while I manned the camera (of course). His first bite, he was a little confused....







Then he realized they were pretty good and kept trying to grab the spoon! Once he realized he liked them, he opened his mouth, ready for more before even finishing his first bite!



But I'm not ready to give up breastfeeding...I had said I would go six months, but he's such a good nurser, that I think we are going to try and go as long as he can...not too long, though!! We'll see!

Daddy's Boy...

Tonight, Adam was on the phone and Jackson would NOT stop staring at him! It's amazing how much of a Daddy's boy he becomes when Adam gets home from work!

Bye Bye Mobile

On Sunday night, Adam and I put Jackson in his PJs and put him in his crib to play for a bit while I checked my email and Adam got his stuff ready for work on Monday...all of a sudden we hear a crash. I said, "Adam, was that you?" "No..." So we both go running into Jackson's room, only to find that he has reached up and pulled on the palm tree of his mobile, pulling it down! (and scratching the finish of the crib in the process) I knew that eventually we would have to take it out because of this same reason, I just didn't think it would be so soon. It's kinda sad! So now we either have to remove it, or lower the matress...but either way it means my little man is growing up and discovering and becoming more independent. All he wanted to do was put that palm tree in his mouth...I just wonder how long he has been plotting this take down!

Rudolph & Frosty

Tonight we started a new tradition with the Schroer-Babcock family. After running around all day shopping, Jackson, Adam and I met over at Grandma Netty and Grandpa Scotts with Aunt Stacey. We all put on our Christmas jammies and sat down to watch Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman! I love those two movies! I remember sitting and watching them as a kid--although they were not digitally enhanced, nor were they viewed on a 52" plasma (Jackson is so spoiled sometimes!) But we ate pizza and got some cute shots with my little giggle monster--he was in such a good mood! He giggled for everyone tonight and actually liked staring at the TV watching the movies! He got super excited when Daddy got there, too!

As a side note, in my crazy busy-ness with the business, I have forgot to mention and blog the fact that Mr. Jackson has been officially sitting up on his own for about 2 weeks now! We are so excited about it! In addition to that, he can now stand, unassisted, against the couch for a long period of time--and just today, he started shimmying along the couch as well! Lookout world, he's on the move--kinda....

First Visit to Santa

This afternoon, we took Jackson to see Santa for the first time. Adam took off work around lunch time and met me, Grandma Netty and GG Jane at the mall. Jackson was so tired after waiting in line for a bit, but wasn't scared at all as he sat on Santa's lap! Actually, he couldn't keep his eyes off of him! He would never look at the camera for a picture, but I thought his portrait with Santa was still pretty cute!

Exhibitionist

This morning was a Mommy and Jackson morning. We got up, we cuddled, we played in our jumperoo...then we peed and peed and peed and had a super full diaper! (Okay, Jackson peed. Mommy was oblivious to any urination going on until she picked him up and felt the wetness all over his PJs!) So I took him in to his changing table and took the super soaker diaper off, only to see that he was wrinkly all over from the wetness. So I layed him on a blanket on the floor in his room, wrapped up in a cloth diaper, while I went in a made my bed. When I came back, he had ripped off that diaper and literally was swinging it above his head like a stripper, just giggling and rolling around! He LOVES to be naked! Like mother like son--my mother, grandmother, and sorority sisters who have lived with me at the ADPi house will attest to the fact that I would rather walk around naked than put on a robe too (but that was with my pre-preggers figure!) Then, when I went to put his clothes on him for the day, he cried and whined as I put a fresh diaper on him, then had to coax him into putting his arms in his shirt--goodness! He can be so stubborn sometimes! Luckily, I got the entire thing on video and also got a few shots with my camera before he got too cold. Here are the appropriate ones, although I do have some with him spread eagle, and Daddy said "no way are those going on the blog!"

Weekend with Marley

On Wednesday, my brother and sister-in law gave birth to a cutie pie, Austin Clinton. So Adam and I volunteered to take my 2 year old niece, Marley, for a few days so they could adjust to the new baby and enjoy some quiet time with him. We picked Marley up on Thursday night, and enjoyed a 1.5 hour car ride of "sing-along" time! Marley knows so many songs: Mary Had A Little Lamb, Twinkle Twinkly Little Star, ABCs, Rudolph, Jingle Bells.....then she conked out. We headed to my Mom's house b/c she had Jackson, and when we got their, Marley woke up, saw the "Kissimiss" tree and then was wide awake until 12:30!! That was the easy day...then came Friday! Marley is very smart and always asking questions! And she absolutely loves Jackson--always asking "Where's Jackson? Jackson sleeping? Ah, Jackson crying, he sad..." Then came, "Where's Uncle Agee? Uncle Agee at work? Miss Netty house? I go upstairs. Jackson eating? Why? Milk in the booby?" I can't help but laugh about that one! But we stifled some of that energy with coloring, and watching A Bug's Life, making paper-bag puppets, and taking LOTS of pictures! I had to keep reminding myself that she is only 2 (she seems so much older) and really doesn't have the concept of "coloring in the lines" or "drawing people" so we stuck to just scribbling in different colors...she's a pro! During the day, my mom's neighbor Karl came over and to get Jackson to laugh, starting singing "Woop! Woop! Back that thing up!" Jackson cracked up! And the best part is that Marley starting singing it too! My mom said "Woop! Woop!" and Marley from the living room yelled, "Back that thing up!" It was hillarious! Also through out the entire day, we heard "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer" played over and over again. We have a little Rudolph that if you push it's ear, the nose lights up and sings, and Marley knows the song, so she wanted to sing and dance all day! Needless to say it almost lost it's batteries toward the afternoon!

Adam got home from work and we decided to stay an extra night at Mom's. Marley needed a bath, and wanted Jackson to take a bath with her. So Adam put on a bathing suit and jumped in the tub with both of them! It was super cute! He's a great unlce and a great dad--I think he likes being a little kid sometimes!

Our time with Marley was short, and so much fun! It was a real eye opener as to what having 2 kids is going to be like...we might be waiting to have our second for a few more years! I think we'll stick to spoiling Jackson and Marley for right now!
