San Antonio 2

So Friday night was relaxing! On Saturday morning, we woke to more drizzle, but that didn't stop our adventures! Jackson got all bundled up, wrapped snuggly in his stroller, and we were off to visit the Scent Chips store! (I love these things! They are so much better than candles and can make your entire house smell in no time!) Jackson didn't know what to think about all the smells! But he was really good in the store--we got to make our own fragrance by mixing all the chips--it's like Bath Junkie with wax!

At around noon, Grandma Patty and Grandpa Doug arrived! We again got bundled up and headed out to buy some shoes, and check out the Children's Museum, but by the time we got there, Jack was asleep so we decided to skip the museum and go to Rain Forest Cafe for lunch. I really wanted Jackson to see all the animatron animals--and he really liked em! Adam and Doug took Jackson to see the gorillas, and he just STARED when they came to life! It was super cute! He wasn't scared, just very inquisitive...he would not take his eyes off that monkey!

Afterward, we headed up a few blocks to the Alamo. After walking around and burning some calories, we needed to warm up, so we stopped by a coffee bar, Drink, to get something warm. Jackson was tuckered out by this point, so while he slept, Mommy, Daddy and Grandma Patty had a "hot tottie": Irish Coffee. I'd never had one, but boy did it warm us up and put Mommy in a good mood!

We got back to the hotel, hung out for a bit, and Daddy's best friend from high school, Brad (aka "Jackson"--that was his nick name in high school!) Jackson kinda took a liking to Jackson Sr...he just loves new people!

That night at the wedding, Jackson slept through most of the ceremony (which was absolutely beautiful!) and when he did wake up, he was so good and didn't make a peep! We knew that since he slept for most of the day, he would be ready to party--and boy did he ever! He was even dancing on chairs!! Mommy and Daddy actually got to dance as well--first time in a long time! Jackson entertained us for a while, then conked out, and we called it a night at about 12:15.

The next morning, we went down and had a great breakfast in our jammy jams--then the sun came out! It was a great day in San Antonio so we hit the Riverwalk for some pics and lunch!

It was a great, relaxing weekend!

San Antonio

Today we hit the road and headed 3 hours south to San Antonio, Texas! We are staying on the Riverwalk at the Homewood Suites--it is so nice! I love hotels! This one is a suite with 2 rooms, a living room, and a full kitchen. Once we checked in, we headed to the mall to wonder around...it is sooooo crappy outside today, so we didn't even get to walk on the Riverwalk! So cold, in fact, that getting any pictures was impossible! I'm going to try and shoot a bunch tomorrow before the wedding....now off to RELAX!! Drink some wine, read my book, and sleep in the most comfy bed ever (other than my own!) Jackson is actually asleep, and has been for most of the day. We think he is getting another tooth. I'll post more tomorrow....

Cold, Rainy Day

So this morning, it was super cold and Jackson and I cuddled under a big blanket til about 10:00! Then it was on to oatmeal, attempting to crawl, a little nap, some time on the computer for Mommy, lunch, then some more attempting to crawl! I tried to get Jackson's "downward facing dog", or as Adam calls it "one super pushup--man he's strong!" Jack Jack is also making a new sound that is absolutely histerical! I nearly pissed myself last night!

He's an interpritation: "da dadad ddad dad dadaddad? Dadadd? Da! Da! Da! Thmmmmmph" (spit flying every!)

Basically, he has an entire conversation with himself, using only one word, and then ends it by doing a raspberry with his lips, over and over and over again! Like he's trying to play a trombone, but gets slobber EVERYWHERE! It's so funny! Last night, the "talking" lasted for about 25 minutes, nonstop (like his mommy, huh?!)

Bundle Up

This afternoon, we have painters in our home. I know, I know, the home improvement mavens caved and actually HIRED something done! (I wanted my doors and base boards painted in the whole house, and I wanted it done in a timely manner, so a friend of our suggested we use the crew that he uses in flipping houses, and then came out yesterday to give me an estimate, and started this morning, and should be DONE BY 5:00pm!!) Even though we are using water-based paint, the smell is pretty strong, so Grandma Netty came and stole my little man for the afternoon. Which gives me time to get some things done on the computer while I sit here and sniff paint fumes....yeah. But before they left this morning, we bundled Jackson up, since we are getting ready to get hit with a huge ice storm....he has the fattest cheeks in this pic, but I could just bite em!!

Like Father, Like Son

After a long day of phone calls and "hanging" with my little guy, Adam came home from work exhausted. We turned on the Golden Globes, and I walked into my room to find this:

The resemblance is scary!!

Catching up, Finally!

Jackson, Adam, and I have been very active lately! After Christmas, we had New Years resolutions to accomplish--and that included finishing projects! Our first goal was to get the shed put together and the garage cleared out so we can renovate (again) my studio and create a more professional space. So last Saturday, we called on Grandma Netty to take Jack Jack for the day and we got to work on building the Rubbermaid shed!! It is wonderful! Everything fits in that bad boy and my garage is CLEAR!! I'm ready to start decorating and organizing it!

On Sunday, Adam and I again sent Jack to spend the day with the grandparents and we attached another project--the patio. The deck part was finally finished before Christmas, but the concrete patio had to go! I think in a past post I noted that Adam and I got the deal of a lifetime--tiles that were 20x20 and usually $6.?? ea, we got a $1.00 ea!! Well, those cheap tiles look so amazing on my back porch!! Jackson spent the first part of the day watching us, but it didn't last long before he started whining and we called gma and gpa. But it's done!! And we love it!!

So much has gone on with Jackson, it's hard to remember it all! (I'm going to be typing everyday from now on to make sure I don't forget!) Jackson has eaten many new foods lately: mangos, avocados, and pears! He loves them all--he's a really great eater! We're still making all our own baby food--something I really enjoy doing and I know he is getting a great start with food. I also got him a Fresh Food Feeder and he's eaten bananas all by himself--although he makes a bit of a mess, he's pretty proud of himself when he's done!

Many of you know that my mom and I are on the Baby Center boards all the time, and alot of the ladies have been talking about their Ducky Baths --so we went out and got one! They are only $10.00 at Target, and Jackson gets the biggest kick out of it!

My little man is quite the mover and shaker these days! He is SOOOOO close to crawling! The little booger does so many yoga poses, yet will not just move that butt forward! He's great at sun salutation and downward facing dog--I'm not joking! He will push up on his hands, and lift his butt in the air and stand flat footed--then walk his feet toward his hands til he is in a perfect triangle, yet he can't make the simple move of crawling! He can turn from sitting to all fours, and then rocks back and forth...He's also pulling himself up--again, not joking!! I'm sure I'll have pics of that sometime this week!

A few weeks ago, we took Jackson on a walk and stopped by the park to swing--he LOVED it! He giggled and giggled and giggled, and during the whole thing, he kicked his feet like Fred Flintstone!! He also found his shadow--and kept looking around for it!

6 month Check-Up

Jackson had his 6 month checkup on Tuesday. He is 17 lbs. 8 oz (50th %) and 26.5" long (50th %) Dr. Wardell said he is one of her healthiest patients and encouraged me to continue breastfeeding as long as I can. Her solution for his sleeping problem--get his ass up at 6:00am everyday! (I kinda already assumed that could be the solution, it's just very hard for ME to get up that early! Ha!!) So we've been trying it the last couple of days, and so far so good. He naps better, and is getting to sleep about an hour earlier.

He also got 3 vaccines and the first round of flu shots. We have to go back in February for the 2nd flu shot--it's given in 2 parts. Unlike the last round of shots, Jackson did get a fever that lasted off and on during the day and really wasn't himself, but today, was all smiles again!

He is also soooo ready to crawl! He pulls his legs up under him and lifts his hands up and down, and rocks his little butt back and forth, just doesn't go anywhere--YET! Daddy said he is going to work with him every night this week, so hopefully there will be an update soon stating that Mommy has lost 10 lbs from running after this little devil--joy! Let's just all pray.....for the weight part that is!

Happy New Year

Well, we have to say goodbye to 2006. So far in my life, 2005 and 2006 have been the two best years. In 2005, I got married, started my business, bought our first house, found out we were pregnant...then spent most of 2006 preggers, until the best day ever: June 28th, when Jackson was born. It truly was a full circle moment for me, in that I had dreamed all my life of getting married (having the big Catholic wedding), finding out we were pregnant, and being able to make a huge announcement to my family...and then the day Jackson came into my life, I honestly felt like I had achieved something bigger than me. I was, and have been, so happy to be a wife and ultimately, a mother. Someone asked me this weekend, "You love your life, don't you?" And I can honestly say, "Yes, I love my life!"

So as we say goodbye to 2006, I am looking forward to 2007 with LOTS of goals for myself: and the main one is to enjoy EVERY minute with Jackson. Through the teething and the whining, and his habit of fighting sleep, to watching him learn how to crawl and walk and his first birthday, I am so ready!!

But before all of this can happen, Daddy and I tried to party like rock stars for New Years!! We headed to the Bay (our close family friends, The Freemans, have a bay house that sleeps about 20, give or take, so we claimed a bed downstairs for the night!) for drinks, steaks, fishing, and fireworks!! It was so much fun, although it was cold, too cold for Jack to be outside, and I was indoors most of the night. In addition to being too cold, Jackson was wired and did NOT want to go to sleep (big surprise!) Before we got to the Bay house, I stopped and bought some party hats, blowers, streamers, etc, and Jackson had fun wearing his Party Time hat...actually, he just really wanted to eat it, but I got some pics of him wearing it before he pulled it off!! So while Daddy lived it up with the 3 horseman (there are 4 from high school that are still best friends, but Brad didn't make it home from Austin), Mommy was inside, rocking and walking, and resting with Jackson until he finally conked out at about 10:45, then I was out in full force to watch the awesome fireworks, drink some champagne, and kiss my hubby at midnight! We brought our digital monitor and attached it to (a not so sober!) Daddy! We were sure that the professional fireworks show that the Freemans shot from the end of their pier would surely wake him up! It didn't, and Mommy drank some more champagne and White Merlot. But at 1:00am, I was tired and headed inside with the baby!

Happy New Year!! Next year, though, we are getting a babysitter!
